      Thank you so much for watching!! It would really depend on the look you’re going for, but woven/non-stretch is best, and probably something that’s light or medium weight. I use an unbleached 100% cotton muslin.

    Can I ask about how much fabric you used?

    • @MothandRustDIY
      @MothandRustDIY 3 місяці тому

      It really depends on the size of your bloomers! For smaller ones I use about 1.5 yards of 44" wide fabric, but for larger ones it can be 2 or 2.25 yards. I would recommend cutting your pattern from paper then laying it out to see what you will need. I hope this was helpful!

    I loved this! I would love for you to create one in the style like ‘Little Books, and Sigita.’ I could not for the life of me figure out how they made those? They both verbally tell how they made ‘em, but it’s not clear enough details to figure out the exact stitches used or how they made their awesome stems?? I just wish I could find help so I could make them. Neither one of them respond to their comments, so maybe I’ll get lucky and you’ll read this and check it out and maybe you could make a video I would be on cloud 10 if that happened. Nonetheless, I really appreciated the video you did post it was very detailed easy to follow and I had fun making the one you posted. Thanks again

      This particular cotton is called Sea Island Brown and naturally grows as a brown cotton. There are also green and reddish cottons...they usually aren't grown on a wide scale which is why we're so used to seeing white all the time.

    I was contiplating how I could design my own hoodie, and started thinking making "bulk". Hey I pride myself that my relationship with my mother which had instilled the sewing skills...lol Think there is an easy way to make bulk t shirts and hoodies from a home/brand shop? I thinking in my mind Im complicating the idea to make rather from buying from a supplier. Whats your take on this? Hugs to ya! Thanks!

    • @MothandRustDIY
      @MothandRustDIY Рік тому

      Thank you so much for the question!! I don't know if I would say there is an easy way to make your own hoodies...it's definitely some work to sew any garment. I know there are some good tutorials here on UA-cam (I haven't made one yet!) 🤣 If you're wanting to start a clothing brand, there are definitely special challenges when you're making the items yourself, but it's always worth experimenting, I think. I would say to start small and not invest too much--probably an Etsy shop would be the best, low-cost way to test the waters. If you're wanting to have designs on hoodies, though, I would suggest looking into a print-on-demand company like Redbubble or Printful. I hope this is helpful!

    I made your hat using soft deer skin leather for the outside, flannel lining and muskrat fur. It is too big and I recognize that I failed to follow your instructions of a half inch seam when joining everything. But It's way too big and I am wondering if it is more than the 1/2" seam allowance that is an issue. How would I make my next hat smaller?

      Oh no, I'm sorry it turned out too big! For reference, printed as is, this pattern should fit comfortably about 22". The only thing I can think of would be if you could print the pattern a slightly smaller percentage. I would say use something cheaper but bulky like fleece to make the second one, to see if it fits better, before moving on to more precious materials. If you can rip the seams on your existing one, you might be able to resew with a larger seam allowance and still have it work. I hope this is helpful!

      @@MothandRustDIY I'm going to try it again with your direction of 1/2" seam allowance. I think that's the problem or you would have other questions about the sizing.

    Nice video. I just started to grow a bit of cotton. Just for fun. I hope I'll get some harvest from it. Greetings from Costa Rica 🌹

      Thank you for the question, Dolores! Right now, it appears they only have an option to do this with 1 or 2 yard increments. You can view the various options here: www.spoonflower.com/fill-a-yard
